Project Introduction
In recent years, the main driver of economic growth in Dominica has come from the agricultural sector. Local government departments also attach great importance to investment in agricultural infrastructure construction.
The challenge
The problem of energy and water sources is one of the most important issues many countries are faced with. Around more than 30% agricultural pumps are not available to connect with grid electricity due to poor power facilities. And 50% farms cannot get well irrigated because of poor water conservancy infrastructure. Nowadays the cost of diesel is rapidly increasing,so the cost of maintenance on diesel generator pump system is very high. It is urgent and important to find a sustainable way for agricultural irrigation.
The solution:
Solar powered water pump technology is a very good solution to agricultural irrigation. The system consists of 115kW solar array,90kW pump inverter and 90kw pump and provides 60m³/h water for irrigation.
